At St Joseph's we believe every child should feel valued, included and supported to achieve their full potential. We work closely with families and external professionals to identify children's strengths and needs and provide the right support at the right time. Our inclusive approach combines high-quality classroom teaching, targeted intervention and specialist provision to help every child flourish academically, socially and emotionally.  

Since September 2014, all schools are expected to publish a document to help parents and careers of children and young people with Special Educational needs and Disabilities (SEND) understand what services they and their families can expect from the school and a range of local agencies.

The document, known as the SEN Policy and Information Report, should help you understand how the system works, and how the local authority, local area and the school will support both your child and your family.

The Worcestershire SEND Local Offer provides information, advice and guidance for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), their families and professionals working with them. 

The Local Offer brings together details of the services, support and opportunities available across Worcestershire, including education, health and social care provision. It also provides information about Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Worcestershire SEND services, support groups and sources of advice for families.   

The Local Offer aims to: 

• Provide clear, accessible and up-to-date information about available SEND services and support. 

• Help families understand what support is available and how to access it. 

• Ensure services respond to the needs of children, young people and their families.

The Worcestershire SEND Local Offer provides information about services, support and opportunities available across the county for children and young people with SEND and their families. 

The SEND Information Report explains how St Joseph's Catholic Primary School identifies, supports and makes provision for pupils with SEND. 

The SEND Policy outlines the principles, responsibilities and procedures that guide SEND provision within our school.

The Base is St Joseph's enhanced learning provision for pupils with identified or emerging SEND who require additional support to access learning successfully. Through targeted teaching, personalised interventions and pastoral support, we work to remove barriers to learning while ensuring pupils remain fully included in the life of the school.

Provision within The Base is flexible and responsive to individual needs. Support may be provided for short-term intervention or as part of a longer-term programme where appropriate. During the current academic year, provision is organised across Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6.

SENDCo stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator. 

The SENDCo leads and coordinates provision for pupils with SEND across the school, working closely with parents, staff and external agencies to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive. The SENDCo also oversees SEND provision, supports staff in meeting pupils' needs and helps families access additional advice and services where appropriate.
